Anderman Ceramics Ltd

Custom-made production of large Quartz Tubes.

We are always looking to innovate at Anderman Ceramics, to find the best solutions for our customers. The example below is a great showcase of Anderman’s ability to manufacture for your company large quartz tubes for the most challenging purposes and applications.

We had an enquiry to supply a quartz tube with extremely large dimensions, namely 6 meters (over 19 feet) in length with an external diameter slightly greater than 400mm (more than 16”), to be used above 900°C (above 1650°F). We were extremely pleased to confirm to our customer that we could indeed delivery such a large quartz tube.

This is quite a challenge, but one that we would be prepared to tackle to the highest standards of quality should your company needs a Large Tube such as that one.
Talk to us about your project and let the Anderman Ceramics specialists work their magic. We’ll help you turn your challenges into solutions.

How Anderman's strategic supply partnership
works in your favor.

The customers of Anderman Industrial Ceramics are benefiting from its collaboration with CUMI, a leading manufacturer in high-performance advanced refractories. As the strategic partnership enters its fifth year, it has established both companies as serious players in this field - with their clients reaping the rewards. This article explains how.

Details matter to your good name

The reputation of your company depends on a range of factors: the quality of your service or product; your pricing; your people and, not least, the efficiency of your processes.

In the automotive, aerospace and power generation industries, processes need to be particularly robust, down to the smallest component. If a component fails to perform properly, it can undermine your productivity, your efficiency and, at worst, your safety record.

Our eye for detail guarantees quality

We are a leading international distributor of technical and industrial ceramics and refractories - and have been for 70 years. We know it's vital to keep a close eye on product specifications, especially in the area of high-performance advanced refractories.

If you are in a business that demands specialist technology, producing parts for aircraft engines, power station turbines or medical devices, details count.

You need to be sure that the environment in which your components are produced - using advanced refractories to transfer the molten metal to ever smaller vessels - is closely monitored and free from contamination. The components that emerge have to be smooth and neat, with exactly the right tolerances and free from contamination.

And when you are running a global operation, you have to be confident that the components are produced in the volumes you need, when and where you need them.
If there is a hitch, however small, it can affect your good name.

Enhanced value for your company

As we enter the fifth year of this joint venture, we are delighted to see how this partnership benefits customers on all counts:

1. Global expertise, when you need it

Together, Anderman and CUMI have 120 years of pooled expertise and we have already exploited this to develop better manufacturing methods and new materials for our clients.

This is in addition to the specialist day-to-day support our customer service teams offer. Whether it's advising on material or dimensional specifications or updating about deliveries, our technical and multilingual staff are always on hand to help - wherever you are in the world.

2. Consistently high quality, at a competitive price

Established in 1965, CUMI super refractory division has built up strong vertical integration. It means that we can monitor closely every part of the process for you, from sourcing the raw materials at the start to assessing the finished components at the end. Quality is assured at every stage.

3. Impressive capacity, responding quickly to demand

As a partnership, Anderman and CUMI have the flexibility that comes with a global presence in terms of sales offices and manufacturing facilities. Our modern facilities have the ability to ramp up production when required and our global warehousing and distribution network makes sure that our deliveries meet your deadlines.

4. Financial resilience, vital in times of flux

Against a changing economic backdrop, the Anderman and CUMI collaboration gives your reassurance. We represent a global business with a $500 million turnover. Good to know in uncertain times, when you want to be sure that business partners can fulfill their promises.

Future-proof your standing in the world

Like you, our reputation relies on high-quality products, expert teams, and efficient processes - all delivered at a competitive price.

That is why we are delighted that the Anderman and CUMI strategic supply partnership is going from strength to strength. By working together, we offer you a seamless and expert service, whilst at the same time investing in longer-term innovations and improvements.

That can only be a good thing for your efficiency, productivity and reputation - now and in years to come.

Anderman and CUMI bring new R&D to abrasives in the superalloy and investment casting industries.

For many years we have worked closely with the superalloy and investment casting industries, supplying the advanced refractories – launders, tundishes, distribution boxes – that transport molten metal through the production line.

Having developed an in-depth knowledge of these sectors, it seemed logical to apply that knowledge further downstream, at the primary processing stage: when the cooled ingot has been cut into bars or billet and its surfaces prepared for the next stage of its journey, be that a turbine blade or a bespoke aerospace component.

Hence our latest collaboration with our strategic manufacturing partner CUMI, focussing on its abrasives division. Established in 1954, CUMI has state-of-the-art facilities and a proven track record in producing high quality vitrified and resin bonded abrasives.

Experts on hand

As the processes in super alloys and investment casting are so specialized, we have brought in our own team of experts to help you.

A team with over 20 years of experience in the manufacture of loose grain abrasives, as well as the many applications of bonded abrasives, used in all your cutting, grinding and polishing tools.

Engineers who know that when you invest in intensive research and development to create an exclusively formulated Super alloy, valued at about U$ 90,00 / kg, you want the minimum waste in the primary processing stage. The quality of the abrasives you use should be unmatched, cutting each alloy bar cleanly and leaving the surface smooth and free from contamination. Without the best abrasive tools, you’ll waste that precious alloy. For $90,000 a ton, that’s something no one can afford to do.

Our team of engineers travels regularly to India, working closely with the CUMI research and development team. Pooling their knowledge, they put a wide range of abrasive materials and processes to the test.

The biggest benefit ? To cut your your Superalloy waste bill by producing a bonded abrasive blade wich is:

• thinner than comparable blades;
• as durable as comparable blades;
• produced in the quantities you need, when you need them.

We believe that what we have developed represents unrivalled value in terms of whole life cost and we want you to benefit from that.

More options, 24/7

This work is just one example of how we will give you new choices in the field of abrasives. With CUMI’s proven manufacturing capacity and capability, we can also supply:

• vitrified bonded abrasives
• resin bonded abrasives
• coated abrasives
• loose grain blasting material
• fused alumina coating for investment casting

Let’s talk today

The research of the last year has involved hours of assessments and testing. You’ll understand that we can’t go into any more details here. But if you operate in the super alloy or investment casting industries, and want to cut waste in primary production, contact us today and see how our R&D can support yours.

If we already work with your company in another field – advanced refractory or technical ceramics – let your colleagues in abrasives know that we will bring the same commitment and expertise to their division. With sales offices in the UK, US and France we can answer any questions quickly, wherever your operations are based.

We look forward to talking to you.......

High temperature insulation using innovative fibre free thermal insulation material - Thermcell.

Developed through patented high temperature insulation technology, ThermCell stands out because it brings together a number of properties which give you the edge at a technical and human level.

Fibre free and lightweight, up to 1700°C
ThermCell is fibre free heat insulation material which functions well at high temperatures and has a low density.

The material’s unique porous structure gives it excellent thermal shock resistance over a wide temperature range, up to 1700°C / 3092°F. This translates into faster firing cycles, which will deliver higher yields and energy savings.

The fact that ThermCell is fibre free also guarantees consistent product quality in the extreme heat of the glass industry.

ThermCell is available in rigid standard boards, 450mm x 300mm, with four thickness options. We can also produce bricks and customised shapes on request.
Contact us today and we can explore your project in more detail and send you a full technical data sheet. We look forward to speaking to you.
