Gavin Jones: Sales Executive
Who are you and what’s your role at Anderman & Company?
My name is Gavin Jones, and I am the Sales Executive for Anderman Ceramics. My role is to proactively support our existing customer base whilst looking to expand our reach in developing new commercial opportunities based from our UK Headquarters
What does a typical day in your job look like?
My day-to-day work mainly involves handling customer enquiries. These range from quoting for Furnace Tubes, which we hold extensively in our UK warehouse, to working with customers on more bespoke applications across Aerospace, Automotive, Power Generation, and various other industrial sectors.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The variety. Every day presents new and exciting challenges for me to sink my teeth into, and interacting with our customers is always rewarding. It’s fascinating to see something progress from a technical drawing to a real-world application in industries like Aerospace and Automotive. That gives me a real sense of pride.
How do you help or support our customers/clients?
For me, it starts with respecting our customers and their requirements. I make sure I fully understand their needs, respond in a timely manner, and aim to make the whole process as stress-free as possible. With this approach, both parties are aligned, putting us in the best position to provide excellent service.
You spend time visiting customers on the road—what do you learn from these visits, and how does it help you improve your work or understanding of their needs?
Being out on the road has been a fantastic learning experience for me and beneficial for Anderman. Sitting down with our customers helps me improve my understanding of the ceramics industry and gain insight into their individual needs. From a company perspective, it’s important to maintain regular contact, stay updated on their requirements, and ensure we continue to meet expectations now and in the future.
Why did you choose to join Anderman & Company?
I was unfortunately made redundant from my previous role, which was a huge shock as I had spent 12½ years with that employer. This pushed me to look for a new challenge, and I was fortunate to come across the Sales Executive role at Anderman Ceramics. It immediately seemed interesting and offered a fresh challenge. Now, after almost nine months with the company, I can say it was a great choice. The role is challenging, varied, and very engaging.
Can you share a fun or memorable moment from your time here?
After just a few months, I was invited to John Verrier’s stepping-back dinner. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet many more Anderman team members from around the world and understand the roles they play within the company. Not only was it a great networking opportunity, but it was also a wonderful night with excellent food, lots of laughs, and great company.
